so i‘ve been told that i should start writing again. not sure if something some people will appreciate or not, but i guess i’ll simply get on with it.

on friday i received a last minute invite to attend a 40th birthday party on saturday and i met up with some old family members i hadn't seen in a long time. which was good, even with the standard what are you doing for a job? (nothing) have a partner yet? (nope) you still a homo? (yep) where are going with your life? (no fu*king idea) questions. but i faced them with aplomb and drank as much as i could while the open bar lasted. i unfortunately didn't have anything to eat during the evening which made my sleep later on that night fitfull and restless. plus i belched a lot.

sunday i had a rugby meeting to go to and i nearly didn't go, but i was saved from making that decision by a phone call saying it was postponed. this change of plans thus enabled me to potter about in the cabbage patch and do some weeding and harvesting. i'm trying some ‘tatsoi’ chinese cabbage which has very firm leaves and is non hearting so you are able to harvest individual leaves and keep the plant still growing. it's a nice crunchy variety when fried or wilted, but not particularly suited, i feel, to boiling or steaming. but free food from the garden is better than store bought, i always say.

we got the tsunami warning after the earthquake in conception, chile yesterday, and parts of the peninsular had tidal surges and outfalls. but nothing serious. of course the same can't be said for what's happening in chilie.
i'm not going to make discussions about the response variations from the recent indonesian, hatian and chilean quakes. sufficed to say, each is location is suffering and we should all give thanks that we are not affected by the pain and displacement of such an event.

it's actually quite hard writing after such a long break, but i dear say i shall get a groove on with a little bit of practice.
