i don't hate.

i don't hate people. i don't hate governments or politicians. in don't hate circumstances. i don't hate ideas. i don't hate thoughts and hopes.

i do however, hate poor manners and judgement.

simon said to me weeks and weeks ago his friend and his gf would be coming to vist for a weekend and that was great. i settled up my desire to display everything i own with the prospect of having a need to store and hide things; so i made new shelves and put things in boxes etc and made room for the air bed simon bought (with my sheets, blankets, duvet and coverlet and heater and clock and tv and light in the spare room).
so they arrived yesterday while i was watching my neice play netball for her school, but by the time i arrived home at approx 3-00pm, they'd only had 2 or 3 beers each. so we drank and talked and got an insight towards each other. excellent.
i had not planned on going out for beers into town with them, but they asked so i got my drinking trousers on and we headed into town at just after 6-30pm.
apparantly, i am difficult to follow if the gap betwen me and them is more than 2 metres as they had difficulty in following me in to bar after exiting the taxi.
one round (paid for by me) and the next bar was calling. i made the almost fatal mistake of using my legs and feet to actually walk at a pace faster than a decomposing donkey so combined with the visual impairment that 3 metres distance and simple instructions (follow me down this straight road for 15 metres) makes, we finally got to our second bar, where they only get three drinks, leaving me to get my own.
now by this time i noticed they were all terribly horribly drunk, so i suggest we go outside and sit down by the fire on the couch and no fall over the tables and annoy other patrons. so they followed me and my advice. untill i was abused for trying to ruin their night by not letting them punch a random stranger.
i decided to go home at this stage (8-10pm), giving them instructions as to where the next five bars were (6 metres down the alley) and where the nearest taxis were (4 metres in the opposite direction from the bars).

so i go home, safe in the knowledge that i have 3 or 4 hours to calm my nerves and relax. ohhhh noooo.
how foolish am i? very foolish. 22 minutes after i get home, they all arrive and inquiries assertain that they were refused service due to their level of intoxication.
fine. we‘ve all been drunk before. but i’ve never started fighting in my own house. nor have i crashed into glass shelves breaking them and gashing (not cutting) my arm wid eopen leaving inspection to even the blindest of morons to know that at least four stitches are required to close the wound. but hey ho, apparantly, i'm an overbearing c*nt who thinks that taking someone you care for to the accident and emergency department at the local hospital is a fu*king waste of time and other phrases worthy of a sailor.
so i wash my hands (literally) and go to bed. alone. leaving them to die in their own vomit (hopefully).
saturday left me alone, going to rugby and losing our second to last match of the round. the club however gave me plenty of chances to recharge my mojo and drink some flaming sambuccas as well as a few beers.
home at 10-30 pm and no one is to be seen or found, so i'm going to go to bed and have a nice sleep. also alone.

it's nearly finished. nearly.
as you know, i‘ve been writing and compiling my third book and it’s almost ready for final proof reading.
it's been difficult making decisions and editing out and, i may say, editing in all that i want to get the book to flow and not be too heavily biased one way or the other.

now of course come the extremely difficult part of securing if not publication, then printing and sales. my first book was easy as i published it myself and my second was equally easy as both had a short and limited audience.
one can only wait.

last weeks rugby was cancelled which denied us the chance to secure a top four position. this saturdays game and the final competition game the following week leave us in either 5th, 6th or 7th place, depending on wins. beer still tatses good no matter what the circumstances. and then there's the finals and the end of season trip and then the team dinner. will be a busy 6 weeks to come.

then it will be my birthday. presents please.

so i‘ve snagged myself a good solid 40 hours work which is great. it’s a re-design of a site i first made over 10 years ago when i first became interested in design, and had made changes to it two or three times since, but this is it's first major overhaul and i‘ve come up with a very interesting way of displaying the posts and the menu/search. i’m excited about it all.

while i was there i saw my brother who was supposed to take me out to the farm [ 43º 32' 6.74“ S - 171º 56' 45.69” E ] two sundays ago. i didn't ask why he didn't instead i asked if he wanted to join me and mum and my sister for lunch tomorrow, but he‘ll be working.

when i came home, simon had been home and taken the dog for a walk, but he arrived all grumpy and with a bleeding hand. silly dog had mistaken his hand for a stick which he was busily repeatedly not throwing but teasing her with.
sympathy, none.

i’ve been writing a food diary since the 1st april this year and i was going to put it online, but i‘ll wait till this new bit of work has been completed. i eat too much kfc, but that’s only on saturday nights after rugby. other than that, i eat well. generally only once a day however, as i never eat breakfast, and and have lunch maybe three times a month these last ten years. if that.
my favourite lunch as a child on a cold weekend was dads special liver and bacon and fresh bread and the oh so delicious gravy dad made with it. god, i'm salivating now at the thought.

getting my mojo back. it's been hiding in the bushes waiting for the right young youth to come along and beat it out of me.

rugby is going well, apart from the odd loss. lots of drinking and cavorting and getting muddy. and long sunday sleep ins. four more competition games to go and then the finals crossing my fingers and bits for a positive outcome, but if not, then that's the way it is and i‘ve still had a great season.

had a run in with the morons at mcdonalds the other day dirty cheating fraudsters that they are. complained bitterly in person and then wrote a very terse and strongly worded letter. no reply as yet. but i did get a reply to my querey of television new zealand about a cock up in their weater report

Subject: Query Regarding Weather

Programme Name:

Comments:
i infrequently watch the news and weather, but i was tonight. what a shock it was to find out, while watching the ’live' weather cams, that christchurch [ 43º 31.851' S, 172º 38.230' E ] sits in a temporal time shifted zone and has full daylight while the rest of the country is in complete darkness.
‘live’ is supposed to be live is it not otherwise faith in the message cannot be guaranteed.

Yes, we were all surprised to see that. It was a glitch, a frozen image from a couple of hours earlier.. and as soon as it was aired it flicked back to the real image. Our apologies

i felt like a wee rant after my episode with corporate america.

interview tomorrow for some design work which will be good. a good 40 hours work at $30 per hour. shhhhh don't tell winz.

A Japanese artist named Isao Hashimoto has created a series of works about nuclear weapons. One is titled “1945-1998” and shows a history of the world's nuclear explosions.

Over the course of fourteen and a half minutes, every single one of the 2053 nuclear tests and explosions that took place between 1945 and 1998 are is plotted on a map.

A metronomic beep every second represents months passing, and a different tone indicates explosions from different countries. It starts out slowly, with the Manhattan Project's single test in the US and the two terrible bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki that ended World War II.

After a couple of minutes or so, however, once the USSR and Britain entered the nuclear club, the tests really start to build up, reaching a peak of nearly 140 in 1962, and remaining well over 40 each year until the mid-80s.

It's a compelling insight into the history of humanity's greatest destructive force, especially when you remember that only two nuclear explosions have ever been detonated offensively, both in 1945. Since then, despite more than 2,000 other tests and billions of dollars having been spent on their development, no nuclear warheads have been used in anger.

Born in Japan in 1959, Hashimoto worked in the financial industry for 17 years before studying in Tokyo in the department of Arts, Policy and Management, and then getting a job as a curator at the Lalique museum in Hakone, Japan.

He began the piece in 2003, with the aim of showing, in his own words, “the fear and folly of nuclear weapons”. Hashimoto says: “ I created this work for the means of an interface to the people who are yet to know of the extremely grave, but present problem of the world.”

As the timescale on the animation only reaches 1998, it doesn't include North Korea's two nuclear tests in October 2006 and May 2009.
