well, here's a turn up for the books.
ggf and pom came home drunk last night (ggf sans bra i might add) and pom tells me about her dramas with the immigration service. she applied for an extention to her visa, but they didn't even send an acknowledgement they had her application, so she phoned up and was told absolutely nothing. she has to leave the country in 4 weeks, so she feels it would be nice to be able to plan things. a simple ‘we have your application, and will let you know in plenty of time if you can stay’ letter would have been nice.
but she also said, even if she does get her extention, she will be moving out anyway to somewhere closer to town and with a bigger room. and she‘ll probably take ggf with her. there’s gratitude for you.

drinking tonight. lots of it. see you at the bog

fullback

things have been quiet these last couple of days. the weather has been very nice. started on an early tan on tuesday and wednesday. temp was up to 27c which was nice, but tsm was telling me it was 37c in sydney, so i'm as jealous as all hell.

we have started a stupid things people in the flat say book. mostly being filled up by things ggf says. but pom bought out a classic tonight. we were watching a forensic coroners thingy. and there's this dead guy in the river. and pom says ‘that body looks just like a corpse’. and considering she works at the hospital seeing ill people all day, i hope she is able to tell the difference between the living and the dead a bit more accuratly that on tv.
she also maybe leaving us in four weeks, unless her visa extension arrives. we don't want her to go, just be a bit tidier around the house.

have added a new section to my site.
books i‘ve read or am reading or own or have been given/stolen/found
it’s not yet complete (about a thousand to go) and will be adding to it daily from now on.
i'm adding a text database listing as well, but that'll be next week.

number two dog has finally left us. thank god. i was tired of filling in holes in the lawn and picking up shit (literally). ffm's mother came over yesterday afternoon to take her away. so now we are a one mongrel dog family again.

pom had a friend stay over last night. another friend from her time in queenstown. apparantly she's off to thailand or something and needed a place to saty for the night before going to the airport.
don't get me wrong, i‘ve got absolutely no problem in her friends staying over at all.
i’m just a bit curious as to why they all girls and all have to sleep with her in a single bed, when there is a perfectly good double bed downstairs. maybe they like it nice and cosy. ooops. me bad.

i'm still working on getting my dissertation completed, but christ on a stick, it's hard work. i‘ve just frozen up on my usual fluid writing skills. and that fact is making me angry, which makes me freeze up on my usual writing skills which makes me angrier. see??

btw, ggf cut my hair last night. so now i’m all short back and sides. yay.

Dean ( mail/url ) @ 14/10/2004 - 03:04
but what is a fella gonna use for handles now that your hair is short?

Craig ( mail/url ) @ 14/10/2004 - 04:28
That's why god gave our Pete ears, Deano.

Bill ( mail/url ) @ 16/10/2004 - 21:42
I‘ll let your younger admirers worry about your handles. I’m caught up in the reference to Queenstown. I was born and raised in Queenstown, Maryland, USA, pop. 350. It was fate... We didn't have rugby, but we did have soccer instead of American football.

as for your writing skills, take heart in knowing that everyone loses what writing skills they possess as they write their thesis. Mine went straight to hell.

The only way I survived writing my thesis was to create a running joke in the text. Everyone in my research group got into the act as we looked up obscure but appropriate names for the colors of my thiocarbonyl complexes of tungsten. Carmine, anyone?

what, pray, is the point of spending money on a flash new computer if it doesn't do what you tell it to do?
it used to do what i told it to do, but then, ha ha ha, after i accepted the download of one of a seemingly unending supply of critical updates and the much vaunted service pack 2, everything's fu*ked in the head.
driving me mentalerererererererer than i ever was before.
but i got a hand job at the movies this afternoon, so that's made up for none of my computer worries, but a few of my lack of hand job worries.

Bill ( mail/url ) @ 11/10/2004 - 14:46
what movie? and, pray tell, who delivered the hand job? are more hand jobs, and perhaps more all around, in store?

Jason ( mail/url ) @ 11/10/2004 - 22:34
Well, you could‘ve gotten a Mac ;-)

pete ( mail/url ) @ 11/10/2004 - 22:52

Jason ( mail/url ) @ 11/10/2004 - 23:34
